OUR CORE VALUES

Hoyo's story

What has become a favorite snack at parties, lunch staple at schools, and dinner hero on busy weeknights started somewhere much smaller. A handful of Somali women craving the taste of home.

Our Story

It began hand-folding sambusas using family recipes passed down through generations. What started as a way to stay connected to culture and community has grown into something much bigger: a company built on care, flavor, and opportunity.

Today, Hoyo sambusas are still made by hand, filled with bold spices and comforting ingredients — and crafted by new Americans building brighter futures. Every triangle tells a story: of resilience, of tradition, of joy.

This is more than a snack. It’s a taste of home, made to uplift.

What does Hoyo mean?

"Hoyo", which means "mother" in Somali, was founded with the purpose of employing and empowering Somali women.
